Fishing at Smith and Morehouse

Dave decided to take the kids' up to Smith and Morehouse to do some fishing tonight while I was at work. They didn't catch anything, but the boys had a blast casting and reeling, and Emma was happy eating her weight in dirt. That should be fun for the next few days. If something were to ever happen to Dave, I would be so porked. I don't think another man exists, that is as good a father, husband, friend, and lover.

We are spending most of our mornings at the skate park these days. The kids' are generally up by 7:30, so we are able to get some good time in, before the big kids come. Emma likes to watch the boys and especially likes to tease Dawson. It takes him a little while to set up his jump, and Emma likes to lay down right in his path, and laugh when he starts to whine about her being in the way. I am constantly amazed at the lack of injuries that we have had so far. (knock on wood) The boys are always trying to out do each other for the best crash, and it drives me nuts. Hopefully they work it out of their systems before their mode of transportation changes.

Emma's Moo

So when Emma was about 5 months old, Dave got her a pink moose. Since that time, she has been very attached to it. She only sucks her thumb if her moose is in sight. We have had some great entertainment, putting the moose behind our backs, and watching the thumb come out, and then immediately go back in, as we reveal the moose. Emma has been the easiest baby in the whole world, and a lot of that I attribute to the "moo" as she calls it. When she has her moose, she immediately flips it around, so that it's tail is up by her face so she can rub it between two of her fingers. After so much love, the moose was becoming a health hazard, so Dave got online, and ordered two more. She is having none of that. Last night we tried to trick her, and took a new moose into her crib. She flipped it around, rubbed it on her face, and took a big whiff. That moose came hurtling out of the crib with amazing force. We then put her old one in and after one long sniff, she assumed the position. Now, her smelling the moose, was enough for me to throw up a little in my mouth. Dave and I like to dare each other to smell it. It is kind of like finding a bottle of milk that has been lost for a few months, and that is the smell it has, fresh out of the washer.

Chuck E. Cheese

Tonight we took the kids' to Chuck E. Cheese for Dylan's belated birthday. The kid's thought it was better than anything they have done before, except Emma, who was petrified of the robot animal band. It is interesting to hear their tale of how wonderful the rides, games, and pizza were. Most of the rides were broken, everything was dirty, and the pizza sucked. We played to our hearts content though, and they had a blast. Both boys want to go there for their next birthdays, so we have about six months to bribe them with something else.

"Some Things We Lost In the Move"

There are absolutely no rentals in Oakley, so we were dang excited to fall into a 5 bedroom house about 5 blocks from where we are building. Upon first glance it seemed perfect, because it has two upstairs bedrooms, to separate the boys, and the master and Emma's bedroom are far away from each other. After having moved in however, we are longing for our old house. A few things we really didn't think about. No A/C. What the crap? It is so effing hot in this house, I think it is changing my personality. The boys rooms are especially hot, and when Dawson called down to me last night and said "Mom, it's to hot to sleep." I replied, "Just a few more degrees, and you will be unconscious." Dave is working hard on a solution.
Now we sit outside on our front porch like elderly people, and cuss the traffic and talk about the good old days when we had A/C and a fenced yard. Our rental is right on the main road and there is a new Diner being built across the street. Dave and I love to sit outside and make fun of anyone that passes by. It makes us feel better.
The kids' are excited about the tree house in the back yard. It is pretty small, but they love to hide in it. Yesterday when Dave came walking down the street from work, the boys had a whole story I was supposed to tell him. It went something like this. "The boy's were so terrible today, that I sold them to a stranger, and now I wish I had them back, because there is a bear in the tree, and I wish they would save me." Then they started growling and shaking the branches, we really fooled him. Emma likes the tree house for the rope. She just likes to chew on it, I don't know what flavor it is, but she likes it.

My baby boy turns 4 today! 4 years ago today, Dave and I made an early morning trip down to Salt Lake, and a few hours later, we had our baby boy. Dylan is such a great kid, and we love him very much. He was the best baby, and now is such a smart, cuddly, little boy. He has such a funny personality, so I thought I would list of few of the things he really likes.

  • Evil Characters, i.e Darth Vader, Black Spiderman, Dag(Barnyard).

  • Sugar- he never beats around the bush asking for candy. He is very straight forward and says things like "I ate all my breakfast, now can I have some sugar?"

  • Dawson, to play with and torture, and "Baby Dowge" (Emma).

  • Motorcycles. Riding any inanimate object and pretending it is a motorcycle.

  • Swearing, or getting away with "potty" words.

  • Snuggling

This year, Dylan's actual birthday was a little lame. We are in the process of moving and had a t-ball game tonight but, he was stoked about his evil black Spiderman cake, and the promise of Chuck E. Cheese in the near future. He is the sweetest little boy, and I am so grateful for him.

We spent the whole day packing today, and it really sucked. Dave and I are not compatible packing partners. He attaches sentimental value to most everything, and I am not attached to anything other than the kids. I knew we had made some progress when he threw his high school homework away. We have 6 more days left in this house, and although I am excited to be getting a new house, I have a lot of good memories here. Dave and I built our house together, and worked every day for four months on it. Our lives have changed so much since we finished the house. It has only been 5 years, but in that time we had 3 kids, changed jobs, cars, goals, we have grown and matured(a little bit), it has been quite the experience.
Tonight, we took the kids' up to the diversion, and went hiking. We threw rocks in the river, which looked really mad, according to Dyl, because of the rapids, and had a great time trying to out throw each other. We went over to the paintball course Dave used to play on, and let the boys shoot some cans. The highlight of the evening though, was when we took our old dog house up to my brother-in-law's house and he smashed it with a back hoe. It was a good time.
