Sleepover

Damn my camera, and it's illiterate owner.
The Hoodlums really look forward to the weekend when they can have a sleepover in the toy room. I'm so glad they like to be with each other, and can spend a whole evening playing and laughing, and eventually passing out.

Field Trip Season

I'm lucky in that whenever I get to go on field trips with Emma, my BFF usually comes along too, with her daughter. My BFF, Britt is about as exact opposite as I am. She is more reserved, thinks before she speaks, is very easy to get along with, non-confrontational, funny, smart, and beautiful. She is quite the catch. She also has never had any trouble with the law, and infact has a Popo for a father. When I pulled into the completely empty lot and into this stall, she laughed at first, then stared me down until I moved. I'm lucky to have her. Em doesn't need her mother to go to jail while she is trying to field trip.

Me and Britt

We hit up the aquarium for our field trip and had a great time.

Dawson's field trip was to the Dinosaur Museum in Lehi. We also had a great time, although I prefer to drive my own car, with my own diet coke, my own music, and my own kids. I stopped growing in 6th grade and have always been tall, but I never remember being that squished into a bus seat in all my life. It's a small price to pay, to be able to go with him, and I will keep going until they decide I'm not cool anymore, which I thought would be way before today.

What a little stud. He is such a good hearted, good natured boy!

Easter

The Easter Bunny scored with the dress even though it only has a touch of pink. We knew right away, because after she carefully inspected it, she held it up and said, "Boo-Yah"

We were lucky enough to have my Mom and Dad with us for Easter, since they were in town to pick up my brother from BYU.

We scared the holy livin' crap out of the kids Easter morning. My enormous baby brother happeded to have in possession a red body suit (I don't even want to know why). After the Hoodlums headed downstairs to get their goodies, we heard a rattle upstairs. Being the good, responsible parents that we are, we encouraged them to sneak back up the stairs to see if the Easter Bunny had gotten stuck in our house. They made it most of the way up the stairs before the afore mentioned baby brother came barreling down the hall in his suit growling and beating his chest.........It was really fun for the adults. We laughed for a long time, and eventually the Hoodlums joined in.

Emma needed a minute to warm up to Uncle Will.

I'm not sure if he is scarier out of the bodysuit, or in it.

Spring Break Yo

Spring Break! I miss the little Hoodlums when they are in school all day. It was so nice to have them home for a week, and even nicer to have at least one day without snow. We went to the zoo and meandered through the animals, and paused for Emma's photo ops. Every so often I will lose sight of her and start looking around and find her perched "just so" and she will screech, "Take a picture of me."

I told the Boyz, they couldn't walk by me if they insisted on wearing the BYU garb, their Dad bought. They could stay several feet behind me, and call me Mrs. Broadbent, so that no one would know that we were related. It worked out really well.
*Dyl has always cheered for the U, with me, but when Dave found these Jimmer jerseys, Dyl caved and said he wanted one. On the way home, Dave asked him how he thought I would take his switching teams. Dyl said, "She'll be okay with it, because she loves me."
It's true.
And there's always Emma's young impressionable mind.

Because I am a good mother, I agreed to take a picture with them, but those damn Y's both got captured too.

We met up with Kelly and her girls and had a great time.

Oh, dear. My kids are all such posers. They get that from Dave.

Picky Boy Scouts

Since Dyl's Diabetes stuff last July, our family has gone through a complete change in eating habits. Dyl's glucose levels haven't had any spikes since then, I have dropped 65 pounds, Dawson and Emma have adjusted really well, and Dave................. is miserable.

He is an incredible example to the kids, puts on a happy face, and eats whatever whole food, high fiber, low sugar, healthy stuff that I make, but every once in a while, I get little reminders of how hard this is for him, and how much he misses his old life. See above.

This particular ploy may have worked, if when I heard the announcement for the scout drive, I hadn't turned right to him and expressed my relief in what to do with all our "white" food, Chef Boyardee, and other unhealthy pantry items, leftover from our pre-health issue life. (yes, I was planning on giving our unhealthy food to the poor. Judge me if you will.)

He will thank me one day when he is a hundred and ten, and still kicking.
